Hello! Thanks for stopping by and letting me tell you about my process thus far in life.
I currently serve in the United States Navy as a Family and Sports Medicine physician. From Officer Candidate School to life in the air and on aircraft carriers as a Naval Flight Officer during Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom, my journey has been full of life-altering experiences that has allowed me to cross paths with people from all walks of life.
After spending time with a 30,000 foot view in a cockpit, I was provided the opportunity to teach, lead, and mentor aspiring military officers in the Department of Naval Science at the University of California, Berkeley where I also spent three years on the sidelines as a volunteer on the football staff, and managed to organize my time to pursue and earn a Master’s Degree in Education. I am also a graduate of the University of Oklahoma’s Masters in Organizational Leadership program and completed a certificate program in Joint Professional Military Education from the United States Naval War College. Since 2009 I have served as faculty with Concordia University Irvine, where I instruct on-line courses for the Master’s Degree program in Coaching and Athletic Administration.
In 2010, I was fortunate to pursue my initial dream of becoming a physician and embarked upon that season of my life at the Medical College of Wisconsin. While there I also completed additional training as a nutrition coach through Precision Nutrition Inc. to better serve future patients and clients with their health and nutrition needs.
Upon graduating with a doctorate in medicine in 2014, I transferred to Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton, where I trained as a Family Medicine physician, taking care of thousands of active duty military members and their family members. I culminated my time there with a year as Chief Resident where I was leading 42 other young physicians across many facets of the healthcare landscape, and then an additional year serving in a role that included additional training in various aspects of integrative medicine and as junior faculty. I then continue my medical education with a fellowship in Sports Medicine at Southwest Sports Medicine and Orthopaedics and Baylor University.
In 2017, I joined the faculty of the American Academy of Family Physicians Chief Resident Leadership Development Program where I found yet another way to pay it forward as I became involved in teaching the newest groups of physician leaders.
With a passion for leadership and personal growth, I became a certified coach, speaker, and trainer with the John Maxwell Team, where I have the opportunity to share my passion and vision of adding value to all of the lives that I come into contact with whether that be in person, through his blog and website or via Exceptional Every Day.
