I know some of you noticed…
It was out of character for me and it just did not feel right. But some things happened…some things known as “life.” I will be sharing the story in upcoming posts as I believe we can all learn from it…and we typically read blogs for one of two reasons: to learn something or to simply laugh and feel good for a few seconds or minutes.
I have been learning from my family’s current situation for the past 41 days…having to wake up between 0100 and 0200 each night for the past five weeks…to check on my daughter…to draw her blood…to give her an injection of this clear magical fluid based on what comes up on the mini computer that fits into the palm of my hand.
My wife has spent hours arguing with the insurance company because the medication that works is not “covered” even though she has a life threatening allergy to the preferred medication. Luckily we were able to get a trial sample (it will run out soon) from the company itself. A simple Google search led to that outcome.
For me, I can provide a voice for those who may not have one. Helping my daughter get what she needs is not simply about her, but about finding out how I can use her story to help those with similar ones. We don’t deserve anything special, but we owe it to ourselves to use our situation to help those that might not know how to navigate the storm.
So for this week, I simply want you to think about what you can do to help someone out there that may not have YOUR voice. What talents do you have? What experience do you have? What can you do to make a difference for someone else? How can you do something that can get someone what they need?
